Baltimore Crack Dealer Exiled to Over 11 Years in Prison for Drug Conspiracy

BALTIMORE, MD—U.S. District Judge William D. Quarles, Jr. sentenced Damian Gary, age 21, of Baltimore today to 135 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

According to his guilty plea, from 2004 until July 2008, Gary conspired with others to distribute crack cocaine in the Westport Section of Baltimore. Gary obtained crack cocaine from the head of a drug organization, Jamal Stewart, who also sold heroin under the brand name “Dynasty.” During the period of the conspiracy Gary was observed by law enforcement in and around the “street shop,” distributing crack cocaine to purchasers in and around Westport. Gary admits that during the conspiracy he was responsible for distributing at least 1.5 kilograms, but less than 4.5 kilograms, of crack cocaine.

Jamal Stewart, age 32, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to his role in the drug conspiracy and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 7, 2009.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy, the Baltimore Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney James T. Wallner, and Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher M. Mason, a cross-designated Baltimore City Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to EXILE cases, who prosecuted the case.
