BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

Baltimore , Maryland - Chief U.S. District Judge Benson E. Legg sentenced Fletcher Dorsett, age 40, of Salisbury, Maryland, today to eight years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Legg also ordered that Dorsett pay restitution of $3,295.

According to his guilty plea, on May 21, 2007 , Dorsett robbed the Bank of America at 920 Bay Ridge Road , Annapolis , Maryland . Dorsett approached the teller and handed her a note stating that Dorsett had a gun and would shoot her if she did not give him $100 bills. The teller handed over $3,295 and Dorsett left the bank. A picture from the bank surveillance video was distributed to the news media and an individual contacted law enforcement identifying the robber as Dorsett.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Annapolis Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Bonnie S. Greenberg, who prosecuted the case.
