BALTIMORE BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 11 YEARS IN PRISON

Baltimore, Maryland—U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced Gregory McNeill, age 57, of Baltimore today to 140 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, after McNeill pleaded guilty to bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Davis enhanced McNeill’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on a previous conviction for armed robbery and two previous convictions for escape.

According to his guilty plea, on November 12, 2002, Gregory McNeill entered the Susquehanna Bank located at 22 Light Street in Baltimore. He approached the teller station and yelled at the teller, “Give me 100's and 50's and no dye pack!” Mr. McNeill held his hands under his jacket, pointing an unknown object at the teller. The teller gathered up $2,200 and gave it to Mr. McNeill who fled the bank on foot.

On December 14, 2002, McNeill robbed the Susquehanna Bank located at 9900 Liberty Road in Baltimore in the same manner, stealing $7,550.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Baltimore City Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Bonnie S. Greenberg, who prosecuted the case.
