BALTIMORE BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

Baltimore , Maryland - U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett sentenced Anthony Leon Peters, age 37, of Baltimore, today to six years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

According to his guilty plea, on February 1, 2007, Peters entered the Wachovia Bank located on Quarterfield Road in Severn, Maryland and demanded money from a bank teller. He kept his hands hidden under his jacket, giving the impression that he was armed. The teller gathered $4,200 which Peters took and left the bank. In similar fashion, Peters stole $1,000 from the same bank on February 21, 2007.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Anne Arundel County Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Bonnie S. Greenberg, who prosecuted the case.
