Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz sentenced Anthony Mabray, age 47, of Baltimore today to 70 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Motz also ordered Mabray to pay restitution of $6,723.
According to his guilty plea, from January 13, 2007 to January 27, 2007 Mabray robbed four banks in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. During each robbery, Mabray robbed the banks by approaching the tellers, demanding money, and implying that he had a gun. He robbed the following banks of a total of $7,676: SunTrust Bank, located at 5660 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville of $1,457; Chevy Chase Bank, located at 4624 Edmonson Avenue, in Baltimore of $1,959 and in a second robbery of $953; and M&T Bank, located at 22 South Greene Street in Baltimore of $3,307.

In addition, on Saturday, January 13, 2007, Mabray committed a carjacking at a gas station at 2417 W. Franklin Street in Baltimore City, Maryland. The victim had just finished fueling her car when Mabray walked up behind her and demanded her car keys, implying that he was armed. When the victim refused, Mabray assaulted her, grabbed her keys, got into the car and drove off.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore City Police Department and the Baltimore County Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Paul E. Budlow, who prosecuted the case.
