Federal Bureau of Investigation
Baltimore Division
Community Outreach Program
"Working for a Safer Tomorrow"
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM
The mission is to establish communication between the FBI, the community
organizations,

ethnic groups, youth groups, senior citizens, businesses, and schools. The
Baltimore Division
assists these Maryland and Delaware groups in the reduction of drugs, fraud, and
other criminal activities.
The Community Outreach Program includes several initiatives.
YOUTH INITIATIVE
The Baltimore Division is involved in a number of youth events such as school
career fairs and the Boy Scouts of America's emergency preparedness and safety
fair.
Adopt-A-School Program -Junior Special Agent
The Baltimore Division has adopted the Highlandtown Elementary School #237. The
5th graders participate in the Junior Special Agent Program, which is offered
during the school year (October-May). The goal of this program is to help
students improve academically and become better citizens. Students will have an
opportunity to meet the professionals who make up the Baltimore Division of the
FBI. Students learn about the history of the FBI, the types of crimes the Bureau
handles, and the jurisdictional territory that the Baltimore Division serves.
Students have the opportunity to ask questions of FBI personnel and to consider
the FBI as a potential career choice in the future. Some of the lessons covered
include drugs, gangs, anger management, and Internet safety. In May of each
year, those students completing their assignments are awarded FBI credentials at
a graduation celebration.
Back to School Drive: Fill A Pack Back
In the August 2005, Baltimore Division participated in the Salvation Army's Back
to School: Fill A Pack Back Drive. Through employees' generosity, children in
Maryland and Delaware had the necessary tools to successfully build their
future.
Christmas Angel Project
In December 2005, the Baltimore Division, Community Outreach Program, sponsored
the Christmas Angel Project. Wrapped toys, hats, scarves, gloves, and socks were
given to underprivileged students (pre-kindergarten to fifth grade) at the
Highlandtown Elementary School #237 (our adopted school) and the James Mosher
Elementary School. A Christmas Party was held at the Highlandtown Elementary.
Greetings were given by Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Lewis. Then,
Agents and Support served the students pizza. At the end of the party, Santa
Clause (a Special Agent) along with elves (Agents and Support) distributed the
gifts.
Additional Christmas gifts and hats and gloves were given to the James Mosher Elementary School. The hats and gloves were attached to a Christmas tree. The principle presented COS Gray an appreciation certificate.

The Citizens' Academy Alumni started in June 2005. The Alumni Association
includes previous Baltimore Division's Citizens' Academy graduates. Alums will
not only stay up to date with Bureau operations and issues, they will also get a
chance to get to know each other and work together on initiatives they think
might make America a safer place.
Apply to the Citizens'
Academy.
Senior Citizens
The Baltimore Division supports the senior citizens in the community by
providing speakers to various senior centers to educate on fraud, terrorism, and
other criminal acts. A monthly education and awareness presentation is given to
the seniors at the Catonsville Senior Center in Catonsville, Maryland.
Community Events
The Baltimore Division attends community meetings and festivals in the
Maryland/Delaware area. The Division also participates in the National Night
Out, a crime and drug prevention event held the first August of each year.
Attending the community meetings and events is an opportunity for the Baltimore
Division to chat with community residents, as well distribute informational
pamphlets.
